Arrow Electronics is the third leg of the "Big Three" global authorized distributors, alongside Mouser and DigiKey. If you have read our vs Mouser and vs DigiKey articles, the natural follow-up is: "What is Arrow's angle, and when should I use Arrow specifically?" This article answers that.
The short version: Arrow's differentiation is in enterprise-level account management, vertical industry solutions, and IoT / embedded design services (via its eInfochips subsidiary). If you are an enterprise buyer running a global multi-site program with IoT design needs, Arrow is purpose-built for that. If you are a mid-volume production buyer in Asia chasing shortage / EOL parts, that is where JingKeXin fits.
Quick Verdict (TL;DR)
| Use Arrow for… | Use JingKeXin for… |
|---|---|
| Enterprise / multi-site programs with annual contracts and a dedicated Arrow account manager | Mid-volume production orders (50–10,000 pcs) without long-term contract commitment |
| IoT / embedded design-in with software, firmware, and certification support (eInfochips) | Shortage / EOL / obsolete part sourcing where Arrow's catalog shows zero stock |
| Vertical industry solutions: industrial, automotive, medical, aerospace & defense | Asia-Pacific spot sourcing with 48-hour dispatch from Shenzhen |
| Full-line BOM coverage with bonded inventory and VMI (Vendor-Managed Inventory) | Agile BOM gaps where 20+ lines need to be quoted in < 4 hours |
1. Catalog Depth & Brand Coverage
Arrow lists approximately 900,000+ SKUs from over 800 manufacturers. The catalog is broadline-focused: it covers semiconductors, passives, electromechanical, connectors, embedded modules, and complete IoT / system solutions. Arrow's emphasis is on "complete bill of materials" coverage—if you need 50+ different parts across 8 categories for a single product, Arrow will quote all of them in one envelope.
Mouser and DigiKey have larger pure-component catalogs (~1.2M SKUs each), but Arrow's edge is in system-level solutions and vertical-industry curation.
JingKeXin does not aim for catalog breadth. We focus on the 200+ mainstream brands (TI, ADI, ST, Microchip, NXP, Infineon, Murata, TDK, Vishay, etc.) that 80% of production buyers actually need. Our 200+ verified channel network sources the rest.
Practical difference: If your BOM includes 5+ obscure component families (e.g., specialty connectors + industrial relays + custom sensors + power modules), Arrow's broadline catalog handles it in one quote. If your BOM is 95% mainstream ICs and passives, JingKeXin is just as capable and more agile.
2. IoT & Embedded Design Services (Arrow's Strongest Differentiator)
This is where Arrow truly stands apart from Mouser and DigiKey. Arrow owns eInfochips, an IoT and embedded software services company with 1,500+ engineers. If you are designing an IoT product (sensor + connectivity + cloud), Arrow can provide:
- Hardware design: schematic review, PCB layout, BOM optimization
- Firmware & software: BSP development, driver porting, OTA infrastructure
- Wireless certification: pre-certified modules (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, LoRa, NB-IoT, cellular)
- Cloud integration: AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud connectors
- Functional safety: IEC 61508 / ISO 26262 process support for industrial / automotive
For an enterprise building a connected product, this single-throat-to-choke model is very attractive. The catch: eInfochips services are quoted separately (typically $50K–$500K per project) and are sized for enterprise engagements, not startups.
JingKeXin does not provide design services. We are a sourcing partner, not a design partner. If you need help with circuit design, firmware, or wireless certification, Arrow (with eInfochips) is the right call.
Practical difference: For IoT / embedded design-in, Arrow is the right channel. For production sourcing once the design is locked, both Arrow and JingKeXin are valid options.
3. Pricing
Arrow uses volume-break pricing with deeper breaks than Mouser/DigiKey for very high volumes (10K, 25K, 50K, 100K+). For enterprise annual contracts, Arrow offers negotiated framework pricing that can be 5-10% below catalog spot prices. For one-off orders under 1,000 pcs, Arrow's pricing is similar to or slightly above Mouser/DigiKey.
JingKeXin's pricing is the spot-market price. For common in-catalog parts, our price is usually comparable to Arrow's enterprise pricing on small volumes. For shortage / EOL parts, our price reflects the actual scarcity premium—and is often more competitive than brokers who mark up 2-3x.
Practical difference: For large-volume catalog parts with annual commitment, Arrow wins on framework pricing. For mid-volume production (50–10,000 pcs) and shortage / EOL parts, JingKeXin is competitive or better.
4. Lead Time
Arrow operates regional distribution centers in the Americas (Denver, Reno), EMEA (Venlo, Netherlands), and APAC (Hong Kong, Singapore). For enterprise accounts with framework agreements, Arrow offers 1-3 day delivery in the buyer's region. For spot orders, typical lead time is 3-7 business days internationally.
JingKeXin is based in Shenzhen and targets 48 hours from confirmed order to dispatch for in-stock parts. For Asia-Pacific customers, that is a significant edge on shipping time. For US / EU customers, shipping time is comparable to Arrow's. For shortage / EOL parts that need sourcing, lead time depends on the source channel—typically 5-15 business days.
Practical difference: For Asia customers, JingKeXin is faster on spot orders. For US / EU enterprise customers with framework agreements, Arrow is comparable. For shortage parts, JingKeXin is faster because we can find them at all.
5. Shortage & EOL Capability (Where JingKeXin Fits)
Arrow is an authorized broadline distributor. They stock what the manufacturer produces and ships to their regional warehouses. If a part is on industry-wide allocation, Arrow will show it as out of stock, with no backorder or sourcing option. They simply cannot sell what they do not have.
JingKeXin is built for this. Our team handles shortage reports, EOL replacements, and obsolete hard-to-find parts daily. We track lifecycle status across TI, ADI, ST, Microchip, NXP, Infineon, and pre-position inventory on the brands with the most volatile supply. We can often find parts that are showing 26-week lead times or "not recommended for new designs" status, because the spot market still has them.
Practical difference: Arrow is the right channel for parts in active production and large-volume enterprise accounts. The moment a part goes on allocation or is announced EOL, Arrow's authorized network can no longer help—that is exactly when JingKeXin becomes useful.
6. Account Management & Commercial Model
Arrow operates an enterprise sales model: dedicated account managers, annual contracts, framework agreements, payment terms (Net 30/60), VMI (Vendor-Managed Inventory), bonded inventory, and EDI integration. For a large OEM running multi-site production, this is a real value. The trade-off: Arrow's enterprise model has a higher friction threshold—small buyers (under $50K annual spend) typically do not get assigned a dedicated account manager, and pricing flexibility is reserved for committed volume.
JingKeXin operates a transaction-friendly model: no annual contract required, no minimum annual commitment, 50pcs minimum order quantity, T/T or PayPal payment, and a 4-hour quote turnaround for BOMs under 50 lines. The trade-off: we do not offer Net 30 terms, bonded inventory, or VMI (these are enterprise services that we do not position around).
Practical difference: If you are a large OEM with multi-site production and need Net 60 terms + VMI, Arrow is built for that. If you are a mid-market buyer needing fast quotes and 50pcs MOQ without commitment, JingKeXin is built for that. The two commercial models serve different buyer profiles.
7. Target Customer Fit
| Buyer Profile | Better Fit |
|---|---|
| Enterprise OEM with multi-site production, Net 60 terms, $1M+ annual spend | Arrow (framework agreement + VMI) |
| IoT product team needing hardware + firmware + wireless certification (one partner) | Arrow (eInfochips services) |
| Mid-volume OEM / EMS in Asia-Pacific (50–10,000 pcs, monthly orders, no annual contract) | JingKeXin (BOM service, APAC shipping speed, no commitment) |
| Automotive / aerospace / medical buyer needing long-term traceability and compliance docs | Arrow (C of C, AS6081, full traceability automation) |
| Startup / small-batch hardware team with no Mouser credit and 50pcs MOQ | JingKeXin (low MOQ, no contract, fast quote) |
| Buyer chasing a hard-to-find or EOL part with 16+ week lead time | JingKeXin (this is what we do) |
4-Question Decision Tree
- Are you an enterprise with $500K+ annual spend and need Net 60 terms + VMI?
- Yes → Arrow (enterprise account management).
- No → Continue to Q2.
- Are you designing an IoT / connected product and need firmware, wireless certification, or cloud integration?
- Yes → Arrow (eInfochips design services).
- No → Continue to Q3.
- Is your part in Arrow's catalog with stock > 1,000 pcs and the order is > 10K pcs?
- Yes → Arrow (framework pricing on large volume).
- No → Continue to Q4.
- Is your part on industry shortage, EOL, obsolete, or showing 16+ week lead time?
- Yes → Send the BOM to JingKeXin.
- No → Use both: Arrow for the in-catalog high-volume lines, JingKeXin for the agile mid-volume and shortage gap.
A Practical Pattern: Arrow + JingKeXin Together
For most mid-to-large production teams, the smartest play is not "either-or"—it is a split strategy based on order profile and stage:
- Design-in phase (NPI): Use Arrow for IoT / embedded services (eInfochips), Arrow for first-article components.
- Pre-production (pilot build): Use Arrow for the high-volume catalog lines under framework agreement, JingKeXin for the 10-20% of lines that are already showing allocation risk.
- Mass production: Use Arrow for the 80% in-catalog steady-state lines under the annual contract; keep JingKeXin on standby for the 20% that will inevitably go on allocation or get announced EOL over the next 12-24 months.
- EOL / obsolescence events: Use JingKeXin for the parts Arrow's authorized network can no longer source, plus for small-batch last-time-buy requirements that do not fit Arrow's enterprise MOQ.
This is how most of our long-term customers structure their sourcing. They do not choose between Arrow and JingKeXin—they use Arrow for the enterprise backbone (framework pricing, VMI, design services), and use JingKeXin for the parts Arrow cannot deliver.
What JingKeXin Will Not Claim
- We do not run a 900K-SKU broadline catalog with VMI / bonded inventory. Arrow does. If you are an enterprise with Net 60 requirements, Arrow is the right call.
- We do not provide IoT hardware / firmware / wireless certification services. Arrow (via eInfochips) does.
- We are not the right channel for $1M+ annual framework agreements with multi-site delivery orchestration. Arrow is.
What we do promise: stable channels, mainstream brand coverage, full-link traceability, and real spot-stock capability for the parts that have moved past the design-in phase and are now in production-or-EOL. If your problem is "I need a specific part, in a specific quantity, on a specific timeline, and the enterprise channels cannot deliver—that is what we are here for.
Try It Yourself
The fastest way to validate the split strategy is to send the same BOM to both and compare:
- Quote completeness (% of lines quoted)
- Lead time on the lines you actually need fast
- Total cost including shipping, payment friction, and rework risk
- The number of "not found" lines in each quote
For BOMs with hard-to-find lines, our quote turnaround is 4 business hours. Send your BOM here, and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right call for it.
